Green Island Road Path is an off-road, multipurpose trail that is proposed to run adajacent to Green Island Road from Diamond Causeway to the cul-de-sac, approximately 2.1 miles in length. A seperate county project is underway which signalizes the 4-way stop, upgrades signal equipment and phasing to the Lake Street/Westcross signal and extends the Green Island Path project to the Lake Street intersection.
On December 5, 2024, Chatham County Engineering held an Open House Community Meeting at Skidaway Island Baptist Church from 4 PM to 7 PM. At this meeting, the project concept was available for viewing and Chatham County representatives were available to answer questions and gather feedback. Chatham County also conducted a project online survey from December 6, 2024 to January 3, 2025. As a result of the feedback from the online survey and community meeting the path alignment now runs along the westside of Green Island Road. The project concept was approved by GDOT in June 2025 and can be found here at LSCR Concept Report (please note that this link directs you to GDOT's project page then scroll to the bottom under project documents and click to download the approved project concept). Right of Way acquisition has started. Project is on schedule for a November 2027 let to construction.
